Jimdo
Easy website and online-store builder from Hamburg, aimed at small businesses. GDPR-friendly by default with data hosted in the EU.
Quick facts
Getting a small-business site online takes minutes with the guided builder, and privacy settings are sensible by default rather than something you have to dig for.
Design flexibility is more limited than Squarespace or Webflow once you outgrow the templates, and the free plan carries Jimdo branding and a subdomain.
Why does it score 71?
Incorporated in Hamburg, Germany – a full EU member state.
Took a minority growth investment from US firm Spectrum Equity in 2015, but remains German-led with no single controlling parent.
Runs on a mix of infrastructure, all hosted within the EU.
GDPR-compliant, but the platform isn't open source, which keeps the accountability score modest.
